| Planned daily and weekly activities like bingo, potluck,
mixers, golf, shuffleboard, cribbage, and day trips make it fun to meet
others. November 1 through March 31 we plan these activities plus Theme,
Seasonal, and Holiday Special Activities. Free Progreso and Matamoros guided
Day Trips make it easy to visit Mexico and learn to go on your own. Sunday
morning service, shuffleboard, breakfasts, blood pressure checks, and crafts
plus Spanish and Computer Classes. Pictures and descriptions are below
on all these planned activities. You will have a good idea of what to expect
when you arrive. |

Area Orientation

Rio & Paul's
invite everyone especially newcomers to attend each others events as well
as weekly “area orientation”. They are held every other
Thursday alternating between Rio and Paul’s. An informative presentation
showing the history of Brownsville, South Texas and more, including
the characters and events that shaped this area. With the use of Power
Point, live running commentary and written information. You are brought
up to date on many points of interest and current events. You will
meet other recent arrivals and enjoy a taste of the area with refreshments.

Potluck
Dinners are every other Wednesday at 5:30 PM. Bring
a dish to share (enough for 6 persons), coffee and
ice tea are provided. Everyone gets first chance at
their own for those with special diet requirements.
All circle at once to make their choices. Food not
taken in first go around is put on a seperate table
for seconds.

Mixers
|
|
|
| An
hour long social with beer, wine, margaritas, virgin
margaritas and soft drinks ($) is held every other
Wednesday in Room “A”. Bring hors d’oeuvres
to share and enjoy. Our first mixer is on Nov. 2nd.
Come out and meet your new and current neighbors. |

Spanish
Class
|

| Spanish
classes are held at 9:30 AM on Fridays. Participants
will learn the basic Spanish phrases for directions,
food, drinks, restrooms, etc. Advance class if numbers
justify. No charge for the class, Spanish workbook($) |

Bingo

Golf
|

|
| Enjoy
bingo every Wednesday 7:30PM at Paul’s and 7:30 PM
Saturday at Rio. A 5 or 6 game session is played followed
by a break for cake and coffee followed by another 5 game
session. The cost is 25 cents per card per session. Enjoy
cake and coffee and socializing. First bingo this season
will be held on November 5th! |
Every
Wednesday meet for a Best Ball fun competition. Expenses
will the be course fee and a pot to be shared at the end
of season party. Team members will have balanced scores.

Shuffleboard
|
| Every
Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 AM. Entry fee is 25 cents and
the top 4 players share in the winnings. Fun competition
to meet others and enjoy our weather. |
Crafts

fellow park residents in learning a new craft. Bring your
ideas for future projects. Share your craftiness with others. |
Cribbage
|
A
mini tournament is held every Mon. morning at 10 am. Teams
are drawn to play a 5 game series.
Scores are kept and the top 4 share in the pot created by your $.25 entry
fee. There is also a “temporary gift” for the lowest score, which you get
to keep for 1 week and then it passes to the new recipient the next week. |

Do you need yours checked
or just want to know how it is? If so, you can come to the
Rec. Hall any Wed. Morning between 8:30 to 9:30 am and our
in park retired nurses will check it for free. It is recorded
for you and you may have your record when you leave. This
service is not to be used in lieu of medical exams. |

Saturday morning November thru March 7:30-9AM Breakfast is
served. Eggs to order, Sausage, Hash Brown Potatoes, Biscuits & Gravy,
French Toast, Orange Juice, and Coffee. |
We
are planning weekly computer lessons for those who wish to
learn more about computers. Watch for details. No charge. |

Matamoros, Mexico, Day Trip |
| The free day
trip to Progresso starts at the Recreation Hall 9:00AM with
those wanting go and those with vehicles to assist in the
transportation. Maps will be passed out and the lunch location
and time announced. The town is only six block long; so,
no getting lost problem. You will arrive in Progresso just
after 10:00AM to start shopping. See Area Bargins in this
web site for some prices. At lunch the departure time and
location is confirmed before the shopping begains again.
Those driving may leave early if they wish. Departure is
usually at 3:00PM with park arrival about 4:00PM. Once you
have made a trip, you will feel comfortable enough to go
on your own. The group does add to the fun and fellow-ship.

The
Matamoros Day Trip leaves Rio RV Park about 9:00AM and
returns about 3:00PM. Public transportation in Matamoros
is used and the Historic City is very interesting. Shopping
before lunch at the Market and again after lunch at Garcias.
You will feel comfortable on your own after a few trips with

| Ladies Luncheon |
Once a month the ladies car- pool to a restaurant
for lunch. To beat the noon rush, they meet at the Rec. Hall at 11 am
in order to be at the restaurant by 11:30 am. At each luncheon the ladies
choose the site for the next one. There is a sign up and information
on the bulletin board.

| Garage Sale |
Our annual garage sale is held in February at the Rec. Hall.
Tables are free and advertisements are put in the local paper, TV stations,
and distributed to near-by parks.
|
| Recreation Center |
This is the center for all in park activities
as well as the meeting place for our out of park activities. Information
and sign ups for all our park functions as well as information on various
out of park activities may be found on the bulletin board in the Game
Room.
When there is no scheduled activity our guests may use the Game Room for their
enjoyment such as playing cards and games, painting, sewing, working on their
crafts or playing pool. Some activities have a charge. This charge is for all
who attend or participate.
