Rio Rv Park's owners and staff have worked to answer the many questions we hear over the phone, at registration, and through the staff on the gounds and in the activity center. Are reservations necessary?
Yes, especially during the winter months when the park is near full. A one month reservation needs a lead time of at least two month. Three months and more need at least three months or more lead-time. You need four months or more for a seasonal reservation or a four months reservation where you can choose the lot from the inventory of lots open. See comments below on choosing a lot. Back to Top

If, I am unable to keep my reservation will I receive a refund?
Rio RV Park will refund within 30 days notice on daily – weekly less $30.00. Cancellation Fee with 60 days notice on monthly or longer is also $30.00. Cancellation Fee of less than 30 days and before arrival will be 30% of the stated required deposit or $75.00 which ever is greater with a minimum of $50.00. Refunds after arrival will be less $100.00. A refund notice letter will give a written credit for the non-refunded amount to a future stay within two years of the letters date that with park owner’s approval can be transferred to another party. If a lot is vacated and no written notice of intention to return is given and acknowledge with the park owners signature the lot is relinquished by the renter the second day after vacating.
Guaranteed one to three month deposit will be governed by the above until November 1 after which a 50% refund will be made until January 1 when a 25% refund will be made with no refund after reservation date.
No show reservation, unless change is agreed to, will be considered vacated two days after reservation date.
Travel Guard or Travel Insurance trip insurances is another option which can cover not only deposits or advance payments, but cost too.

Can I choose my own lot?
Yes, if you are staying one month or more. The lot will be from the inventory of lots open at that time. The sooner you make the reservation the better the choice of lot. Otherwise, we assure you a lot with enough room for your awning and a place to park one vehicle. We will work to get you into the area of your choice with the earliest deposits taking priority. How far ahead should I make my reservation?
We may be able to squeeze you in no matter when the request for a reservation. A week or two ahead of scheduled arrival from April to October is usually fine. The longer the stay the further in advance you should make the reservation. We do have specified daily and weekly sites even in January and February which need at least a two weeks advance request for a reservation. One to three month reservations really need a two to three month advance reservation or by October the Fall before the reservation. Four month plus reservation need a four month lead-time or by September the fall before. All confirmed reservations need a deposit. See the question on deposits for how they are handled. Back to Top
Do you honor AAA, Good Sam, etc. discounts?
Yes, we honor a single discount from any one of these sources: Good Sam, AAA, CAA, Texas Saver Card, Good Neighbor, Coachman Club, and Family Motor Coach plus some coupons and temporary programs. Back to Top

Can I extend my stay?
Yes, anytime space is available. Extended stays can be pre-arranged at the end of weekly and monthly (four months plus) (not seasonal nor annuals) only and neither during January nor February. The daily-extended fee is $15.00 plus metered electric for those on monthly rent of four months or more with the daily rate extended fee as $23.60 for those on weekly rent. Extending on a one to three month guarantee will be the daily rate less any discounts you might have.

Can I use credit cards in Mexico?
Yes, you can use credit cards in Mexico. It is a good idea, to not only ask if credit cards are accepted at a specific place of business, but which ones. Back to Top
Are medical Facilities available?
Yes, we have two large hospitals, a heart clinic, and a number of Day & Night Clinics right here in Brownsville. Two other large medical centers with hospitals, doctors, and clinics are within an hours drive also. Back to Top
Are veterinarians and animal kennels available?
Yes, Brownsville has a good supply of veterinarians with more in the near by town. Several kennels are available in town and some with more room in country sittings. Back to Top
How will my deposit be handled when I arrive?
Your deposit will be held and applied to the last rental period of your scheduled stay. Back to Top
Are hairdressers and nail technicians available?
Both are available in individual shop and then some shopping centers and the mall has a large group of girls doing both hair and nails. Mexico also offers some cost savings with English speaking technicians. Back to Top

Are rental vehicles available?
Yes, the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport has Hertz and Avis Rental agencies. Enterprise offers Corporate rates to our guests when renting a car, van, or truck easy with delivery to the campground. Call Enterprise at 1-800-RENT-A-CAR or visit www.enterprise.com. Some used vehicle rentals like Mr. B’s are extremely cost effective. All the major car rental companies have offices here in Brownsville. Back to Top

Are RV repairs available?
Almost all the RV manufactures have a dealer nearby who does warranty work. They of course will work on units out of warranty also. A fairly good parts store is nearby plus a Camper’s World about one hour away. Several certified and licensed independent RV repair technicians are available to come to your site. Back to Top

What if I leave early?
The rate for a three months stay ($370 per month) may revert to the higher monthly charges for only January and/or February of $450 or $395 with early departure. A guaranteed lot will revert to the higher guaranteed lot rate of the shorter time period.

If the Jan. and/or Feb rates does not apply and the time period is not between Dec. 15 to March 15 then the rental charge will revert to your best length of stay period and then prorated to the final day. I.e.: You have completed one month and into the second leaving early the daily rate refunded will be the month divided by 30 to determine the daily amount.

If it is between December 15 and March 15 the next best rate will apply. I.e.: You pay $370 for a month a leave in two weeks. The $165 weekly rate would be best totaling $330 for a $40 refund with no electric charged.

Those with reservations will want to review deposit refunds.

All vacated lots return to the park’s inventory available to rent unless written permission by the park to vacate and return is granted. No subletting.

May I come in before my reservation is scheduled to begin?
Yes, we will put you on the site of your reservation if available or another site until your reservation period begins or the site opens up. Back to Top

What do I need to cross into Mexico?
USA and Canadian citizens basically need proof of birth and a picture ID. Picture ID plus a birth certificate or a Voter Registration Card will satisfy reentry into the USA from Mexico. Keeping up to date on changing information since 9/11 can be done by visiting these government web sites. The main Immigration and Naturalization Service web site is: www.ins.usdoj.gov or the site for Entry Papers is: www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/howdoi/legadmit.htm If you have any questions you can check as you enter into Mexico with the Border Patrol on the US side. The US Customs site http://www.customs.ustreas.gov/ will let you know the rules of crossing with purchases under their main site at TRAVELER INFORMATION.

The weather in Brownsville, Texas is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer than all other Texas location and is the best climate in Texas per Rand McNally. Brownsville’s location produces cool dry Gulf breezes in the summer with humidity below 50%, rarely exceeding 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and an average breeze of 10 to 12 miles per hour during the day. Summer evenings are normally range in the 70’s. The winter averages from about 70 degrees Fahrenheit highs in the day to about 50 degrees Fahrenheit lows at night.
